SAHEL design is the result of ex fashion editor Charlie Davies love of good design and passion for empowering local communities in Burkina Faso. The brand which is now available in store, works with traditional crafts people to help relieve poverty through trade in ways that are sustainable and respectful of culture.
"Africa’s indigenous crafts are as varied and enigmatic as her people... to sit at the feet of a craftsman and follow his hands is to give him dignity and show respect for a culture. To find modern applications of his work and pay him fairly for his skill is to breathe new life into a dying art." - Sahel design.
With limited stockists, we are extremely excited to be able to offer a selection of the designs which are beautifully considered and constructed from the effective simplicity of the reins wrap clutch that rolls up on itself and is secured by it's own striking leather tassel, the leather and bogolan (mud cloth) reversible shopper which gives you a summer/winter season bag in one, the hand woven goat leather hipster belt which looks fantastic threaded through the belt loops of bleached out denim and a selection of tactile, chunky brass jewellery.
The stand out piece of the collection is the leather shopper bag (£175) and below is Charlie's video on how to reverse the style and adjust the strap length.
