Mr Mead is, quite frankly, a Bristol based genius. An artist & illustrator, who produces breathtakingly beautiful visions of a dark underworld of nightmarish yet strangely captivating characters such as Captain James McWolfson and Johnny Birdman. His influences and inspirations include Koji Morimoto, Shaun Tan, Remi Wyart, and surrealist American contemporary art, including those found within the pages of Hi Fructose and Juxapoz magazine.
Working in traditional dip pen and ink style (although also recently applying his amazing talent into producing large scale characters in wood) Mr Mead is driven by his childhood fear of animals dressed as humans, which apparently occurred after an early viewing of the Royal Ballet 1976 production 'The Tales of Beatrix Potter'. We can relate, we've seen it and it's scary stuff (especially the pig...)
