Summer sale - Buyers edit
Posted on June 17 2016
The Mercantile summer sale is now on and with the brief of 'classic buys' the Mercantile Buyers have edited from the summer collections and selected their top choices.
" Sale season is the perfect time to invest in the 'building blocks', those classic pieces that you rely on and that make everything else work that bit harder. For that reason I'd be looking out for dark denim washes, a neutral summer palette such as stone, khaki or cream and pieces that could be taken into the cooler months with some clever layering. I'd be happy to find Breton, like the Manu Set top, classic indigo in a clean shape, like the Soeur Farrah dress and an update on summer chambray with the oversized Galileo blouse by French brand Tinsels".
" I'd be using the Sale season to refresh those pieces I have been relying on all season which have been a khaki pant, broidery anglais shirt and canvas dungarees. But sale is an easier way to experiment with something you wouldn't usually choose such as print or bold colour and if you wanted to keep it trans-seasonally classic, I'd probably look for those details within a simple silhouette. New York brand Rodebjer does this so well, and it can be seen in the palm print kimono style top like the Mona which looks great with classic high waisted denim, such as the Current Elliott ankle skinny jean in rinse. Duffy always use colour in unexpected ways on classic shapes and a piece of cashmere is always a safe investment,".
