Parisian Summer

July 07 2014 – Mercantile London

Mercantile London hopped on the Eurostar to Paris last weekend for the Summer 15 trade shows and a visit to one of our in-store favourites, Ba&sh.

Launched by two Parisian friends, who wanted to create their everyday ‘ideal closet’, Ba&sh provides those hard-working pieces which are pulled out of our wardrobes time and time again.

With just enough Parisian edge, the summer collection consisted of feminine blouses, knitwear with a twist and cool, easy printed dresses, which were all worked in the softest of luxe fabric.

We selected with our East London girls in mind and drew on the amazing fresh colour palette and bleached out print stories. We left on a high, but that could also have been the sugar rush of several macaroons.

After our days work, on what turned out to be one of the hottest weekends of the year, we took a keen interest (in a bar, drinking cidre' from teacups) on how the ultra stylish Marais crowd managed to keep cool in the heat of the city.

As usual everything worn by those beautiful French girls was understated, whilst being completely and perfectly considered. We noted the whole of Paris seemed to be wearing lived-in Stan Smiths, oversized textured cotton maxis, perfect white embroidered slip dresses and tiny, layered, neon necklaces (and still not brushing their hair).
