March 21 2019 – Mercantile London
Libertine Libertine was founded in 2009 in Copenhagen by Rasmus Bak, Pernille Schwarz and Peter Ovesen. The brand has established a reputation for its effortless aesthetics and perfect balance between simplicity and sophistication.
All garments are manufactured using high quality fabrics from the best mills in Europe. The brand strives to produce a product of integrity with great attention to material, colour and detail. The rest as they themselves say "is vibe and vision".
The SS19 collection draws on the "beach and boardwalk vibes" of the West Coast of America. A sunshine yellow base dominates the knits and is accompanied by a red accent stripe. Relaxed lightweight knits are recommended paired with a seventies style paisley print maxi for a true "California look".
A soft and delicate breathable cotton-poplin shirt in sunshine yellow stripes slips easily over tanned shoulders and a standout maxi dress cut from a lightweight viscose with a red lotus flower pattern on a blue and white graphic background is a standout piece for summer occasions. The Libertine Libertine signature leopard print appears in a loose fit sleeveless top which looks effortless thrown over slouchy pants with sliders.
For menswear the lotus print appears in the Libertine-Libertine classic bowling style shirt. This loose-fitted shirt is made from a comfortable viscose and finished with black logo buttons. The excellently named Helterskelters are a baggy trouser with a tapered shape made from a smooth and silk-like houndstooth viscose blend, which will earn their keep in the warm days to come.
